Reisterstown's 1976 Time Capsule

Reisterstown History

What Would You Put in a Time Capsule?

In 1976, as Reisterstown celebrated America’s Bicentennial, our community came together to create a time capsule filled with items that captured life at the time.

Buried at the site of the original Colonel Bowers Tavern, now Franklin Middle School, the time capsule was created to tell future generations the story of Reisterstown in 1976.

In the latest episode of Betcha Didn’t Know?!, Stacey Abbott of Corner House Realty and Reisterstown Main Street take a look back at the dedication ceremony using original photographs and documentation, while exploring the story behind this unique piece of local history.
