In the newest episode of Betcha Didn't Know?!, we're heading back to school with local historian Ann O'Neill to explore the history of Franklin High School and its historic bell.
Did you know that the building now home to the Reisterstown Branch of the Baltimore County Public Library was once Franklin Academy? Long before students attended today's Franklin High School farther down the road, generations of local students walked the halls of the original building.
Ann takes us through some of that history, connecting the old school building, the Franklin High School we know today, and the historic bell that remains part of the school's story.
It's a fascinating look at how familiar places can change over time while still holding onto the stories of the people who passed through them.
And, of course, there's a Betcha Didn't Know?! fun fact! This episode has a little Poe in the mix, too. Watch to discover the connection!
Whether you're a Franklin graduate, have family who attended, remember the old school building, or simply love discovering Reisterstown's history, this episode is for you!
