"Betcha Didn't Know!": Uncovering Reisterstown's Hidden Gems- Episode 7

What if we told you that two pieces of Reisterstown’s earliest history are hiding in plain sight—right on the side of the road? In this episode, Stacey Abbott from Corner House Realty and Reisterstown Main Street get to meet up with local historian (and all-around fabulous woman) Ann O’Neill to explore just that: two nearly forgotten mile markers that still stand along Reisterstown Road.

Tucked along the roadside, the mile markers once served as vital guideposts, showing travelers their distance from Baltimore and helping to define the route that would become our Main Street.

These simple stones were once crucial to trade and travel, used by early settlers, stagecoach drivers, and merchants navigating their way through the growing region. Over time, businesses and homes emerged along the route, and Reisterstown began to take shape—mile by mile.
