Main Street Manager:
A virtual ZOOM meeting was held May 20th and the committee reviewed our financial information and various fundraising ideas for 2021. We discussed the grants and agenda ideas for a planned webex with county agencies June 2nd. We discussed the opening of the Farmers Market, our support with an Information Booth each Sunday and will be gathering materials and asking for volunteer support to hold it safely.
Clean Safe & Green Committee:
Main Street clean up on June 6th has been cancelled due to COVID-19 . At this time I am asking all residents and businesses on Main Street to maintain their property and frontage free of any litter. Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns. We will be happy to assist you in any way possible. Dan Carey 443-463-2451
Our Franklin Woodland Trail committee headed by Jeanne Andrews and working closely with our Grant Committee Chair Wendy Berlinrood has been successful raising funds through generous individual contributions, grants, and a State bond. All the volunteers on the committee are ready when we are on the other side of this pandemic to work towards bringing this gem of a Green Space right in our backyard to a reality for the community to enjoy.
Economic Vitality Committee:
Brendan continued to hold the Friday bi-weekly Business Support webex to discuss grants and loans available to our small businesses as they prepare to reopen. The Spring Beer & Wine Festival has been moved to October 3rd. Fingers crossed that we will be in Stage 3 of the reopening in the County allowing larger groups to gather.
Design Guidelines are under review to help celebrate the historic value of our town. They are guidelines that will help property owners and business owners choose complementary signs and facade improvements that make visitors want to "Stop, Shop, Stroll & Dine"
The Farmers Market (defined as an essential service) will open Sunday June 7th from 9am until 1pm on the Main Street lawn of Franklin Middle School. It will continue each Sunday until August 30th.
Baltimore County has announced they are not issuing gathering permits through July 3rd so unfortunately the first 6 weeks of Music on Main Street concerts have been canceled. We will continue to hope that we will move to Stage 3 of the reopening at some point this summer and be able to hold some of the concerts.
