Have you ever wondered about the "Franklin Woodland Trails" sign between the Reisterstown Library and the Franklin Elementary School?
Jeanne Andrews, a Certified Master Naturalist, chairs the restoration project to the park and will meet volunteers at the foot bridge between the parking lots of the library and Reisterstown United Methodist Church. At the February meeting the group explored this forgotten park. In future months, RIA will be working to clean up and reclaim this environmental treasure for our community.
Come join other volunteers as we revitalize this park for the community. Please bring work gloves and a bottle of water.
Summary of Progress:
2nd Saturday of each month volunteers gather to continue restoration project, 9am at the trail head near the footbridge to keep work moving forward.
Saturday, June 8th was a BIG day with revitalization .... spreading mulch day.... all hands on deck! What a great group of volunteers who turned out, worked continuously for two hours and the trail now extends to the crossings at both forks of the trail!
Saturday, April 13th was a special challenge. Northwest Recycling provided a dumpster for wood debris. Great job by volunteers working to fill it. Now they are providing mulch to define the trail through the woods. Come help us spread the mulch and they'll bring some more.
